I need some help setting up my Cockatrice emulator.

I am having some trouble setting up my Cockatrice emulator. And I keep getting the question mark flashing with the hard disk showing. And i have tried also using the mac OS 8.1 iso also, but i couldn't get that working either. And i am not sure on what my Cockatrice prefrences should look either. But I have had goten the Mac OS 7.1 working though. But I can't get the OS 8.1 to load up on my Cockatrice emulator. So i need some help on this, because this is not working and I cannot get this OS 8.1 iso to load either on the emulator. So maybe i am using the wrong OS 8.1 iso image, or something. Okay so can you let me know on where to get the correct isos and disk images, so I can get this working with OS 8.1? Okay, so i would appreciate that from. And I am not so sure on what my Cockatrice preferences should look like either. Okay, so just let me know about that. And I am not sure on how to get the OS 8.1 running, so please let me know the steps, on how to resolve this. And also let me know what files I need like the OS 8.1 iso image, or which rom image i should install also. But I tried looking for a tutorial on this Cockatrice emulator, but i couldn't find one though online. Okay, so i just wanted to know on how to get this 8.1 iso started up in the emulator. And I am not sure what my Cockatrice preferences should be either, or look like. Okay so i need help with this, and getting the OS 8.1 iso image to work snd load up on the emulator. Is there any reason why you would want to run Cockatrice? Basilisk has a nice GUI, and we have a guide available.

Okay, but i am sorry about this, but I still can't get my Cockatrice emulator working. And i can only get it working on OS 7.1. But I am not so sure on how to get this working on OS 8.1. All right so I really need some help here on this, because this is not working and I am upset about this. And i really would like to install my OS 8.1 on this emulator, but I am not sure on how to mount the image or the iso into the Cockatrice emulator. And I am not sure on what my Cockatrice preferences should look like. And I don't know where to find this cockatrice preferences online, either. And I also read the other page that you sent me, but I couldn't find any correct way on how to get this OS 8.1 loaded into the cockatrice emulator. But I already have my Basilisk II emulator already running. So i need some help with getting the OS 8.1 iso image to load on the emulator. And I know that i already the correct rom, and the right OS 8.1 iso image. But I don't have any idea on how to get this to load on the cockatrie emulator. I am running the Cockatrice version 5a. And I cannot seem to get this OS 8.1 iso image working on the emulator. Ok so I just wanted to know on how to get this OS 8.1 iso working on this emulator. 1. Download version 5g from here:

2. Extract all the files and folders to any folder

3. Go to the archive folder. Open the min8.7z archive and extract the file scsi0.disk to the same folder with CockatriceIII.exe.

4. Edit CocatriceII_Prefs and add this line ABOVE the last line that has "#" in it:

`scsi0 scsi0.disk`

5. Save the prefs file.

6. Start CockatriceIII.exe . It runs perfectly.

This method is guaranteed to work. If it doesn't work, read the instructions again and follow them exactly.

Okay, I did everything and I followed these steps, but I keep getting the floppy disk with the question mark blinking. So I can't get this to work, so I don't what is going on here. And I followed the directions carefully also. So how do I load up into the OS 8.1 then? Do I need the actual 8.1 iso image to do that? And I have the scsi0 scsi0.disk on my Cockatrice preferences, but this is still not working. Okay so what would I enter into the preferences file? So do i enter the iso image, or the disk image in the preferences? And i tried putting in scsi0 scsi0.disk, and that did not load up the 8.1 operating system in the emulator either. From what I understand, you do not ask how to set up Cockatrice. In your first post you noted that you have System 7.1 working. In each post you ask again and again how you can make Cockatrice startup from your OS 8.1 iso image. Do I correctly understand that this is your question?

Sigh. I should know better than to open myself up for this. But here is the answer that Ronald asked for.

These instructions are absolutely correct and complete. If you don't get the result you want, study them again and again until you get it right.

1. Download Cockatrice version 5g from here:

2. Extract all the files and folders to any folder

3. Download this file from Macintosh Garden:

https://download.macintoshgarden.org/ap ... RETAIL.ISO

and place the file in the same folder with Cockatrice.

4. Read the README file in the Cockatrice folder; open a command prompt (search the internet if you don't know how to do this), navigate to the folder with the Cockatrice files, and enter the command given in the readme:

qemu-img.exe create -f raw scsi0.disk 2000M

5. Edit CockatriceII_Prefs and add these two line ABOVE the last line that has "#" in it:

scsi6 MAC_OS_8-1_RETAIL.ISO

Make sure that that the last line in the file has only "#". Close and save the prefs file.

6. Start up Cockatrice. It will boot to the installer CD.

7. In the Mac OS 8.1 folder, open the Utilities folder (you may need to scroll down). Run the Drive Setup utility.

8. In the Drive Setup utility, highlight "untitled" in the list of Volume Name(s) and click Initialize. Follow the prompts until you see "initialization was successful."

9. Exit the Drive Setup utility.

10. Click "Install Mac OS 8.1" and follow the prompts to install Mac OS to the disk "untitled" (you can title it later).

11. Shut down Mac OS.

12. Again, edit CockatriceII_Prefs, and remove (or comment out) the line that reads

13. Start up Cockatrice. Mac OS 8.1 will start up.

Probably most programs will crash, but I won't try to solve those problems. This time I really am done.

I already have gotten my Cockatrice emulator up and running on the OS 8.1. So i am already set up for that. But now i am having trouble with connecting to the internet on the browser. So I am not so sure on how to get the internet connected. And I tried using the slirp connection, and clicking on the ethlist.exe executable, but its not working for me. And then I went into the tcp/ip settings on the emulator. And i tried clicking on the Ethernet setting, and I entered in the ip address manually. But i still had no internet working on the browser, on the emulator. So i am upset about this.


So how do i actually connect using the slirp settings? And i also put etherslirp into my Coxkatrice preferences, but that didn't seem to help ether. Okay so can you let me know on how to fix this, so i can get the internet connection working here? So just let me know on how to get the slirp internet connection working on the emulator. And I also went to the tcp/ip settings, and changed the connection to ethernet, but i can't get it to connect to the internet, still. Okay, so maybe i have to use the Slirp connection instead to connect to the internet on the browser. Okay, so just let me know if I should use the Slirp connection. Because i can't seem to coonect to the internet on the browser. Okay, so that is what i wanted to know from you.
