I'm not sure if this is a SheepShaver a problem, a Mac OS problem, or a Myst problem. Sorry if this is the wrong forum.
I installed Myst 1.0 in Mac OS 7.6.1. The game runs fine but it's not making save files. When I do command-S, it brings up the Save dialog. When I hit save, it immediately goes to a load file dialog asking where the save file is but I can't find it. I've tried saving it directly under 'Macintosh HD' and on the Desktop; no difference. The Finder isn't showing any save files made either.
SimpleText can save text files so it seems that it's not an issue of all applications being unable to write to Macintosh HD in my instance.
I also tried it with Myst 1.0.1. Same problem.
I'm using SheepShaver 2.5 on an M1 Mac (macOS 15.3.1).

Re: Myst not making save files in Mac OS 7.6.1
I tried Myst 1.0.1 in System 7.5.5. When I want to save a game, the Save dialog opens in the folder where Myst is installed and "Save" saves the game there. I cannot think of a reason why it would not behave the same in MacOS 7.6.1.
This is with my latest (25 January 2025) SheepShaver build in macOS 15.3.2 on M1 iMac.

I downgraded to System 7.5.3, reinstalled Myst, and now it saves.Ronald P. Regensburg wrote: Thu Mar 13, 2025 4:19 pm I tried Myst 1.0.1 in System 7.5.5.
