Boot chime works great!

As for any other audio, I usually turn it off to avoid some crashing possibilities.

Yesterday, today, or tomorrow?

It's aiming for accurate support of three hardware platforms; eventually, it should support all OSes those computers supported.

The target hardware is:

Power Macintosh 6100
Power Macintosh 7500
Power Macintosh G3 (Beige)

You can already try out the WebASM version here: https://infinitemac.org/ under Custom:Experimental and play with hardware configurations and OS versions to see what works and what doesn't. And now, you can also try out the Windows build linked in this thread :)

Or, from the link at the top of the page:

Known Working OSes
Disk Tools (7.1.2 - 8.5)
Mac OS 7.1.2 - 9.2.2 (from CD)
Mac OS 7.5.3 - 9.2.2 (from Hard Disk)
OpenDarwin 6.6.2

And now the system complained about the startup disk being newer than the machine supported (i use both 7.5.5 and 7.6.1, which were FYI clearly supported)

You can find the Discord link on the Github repo's wiki.

Also, I wonder which machine you were trying to use.

It's coming along nicely. I still get freeze ups when sound is played in either the sound control panel or in various applications (running System 7.1.2 on a Power Macintosh 6100).

I was wondering if there is a speed control / throttle command line parameter?

There's no speed throttle command line parameter yet. The sound freeze-ups are a known issue and I don't fully understand what's causing them. I do know the gist though. Basically, a number of apps stop processing sound altogether to save on CPU cycles, cuing it up only when sound is being played. That can cause issues, with things like SystemBeep doing this.

Thanks for confirming that. A speed throttle will definitely be useful to ensure accuracy and usability for many apps.

Sound appears to be a key challenge in emulating the PPC 601 processor, given it is presenting issues for both the MAME and DingusPPC projects. For the former it is scratchy and clipped, for the latter it does play back properly, but leads to the frequent system lock-ups.

Great work so far though. I am eagerly monitoring both projects.
