finally, sheepshaver boots ! But now, I can't boot from the CD of 8.6 or 9.0. The disk with the"?" appears.
I try to boot on the disk image of my basilikII (macos8.0). Then the box "welcom to mac os" comes, but nothing more...
my system is fedora core 1 and sheepshaver 2.2.10

re: how to boot 8.6CD ?
try follow
disable cd-rom
handle your cd like a device means hd in SS
like u do it whit the mac-hd-file.
so hang in another mac-hd "/dev/cdrom" or what ever your cd is.
for me it was working great.
good luck

it still does not work ...
thanks for your help. But it still does not work : the Cd is ejected and then, the disk with a "?" appears. How boring ! but I am still hopefull...
What you need to do is create an ISO of your cdrom using one of the millions-available rippers out there.
Transfer the iso to your linux drive (using ftp from the host, or something). Then,
run sheepshaver using the --cdrom option, specifying the location of the iso. For instance:
./Sheepshaver --cdrom /home/edward/macos8.iso
..This will cause SS to use the ISO as the cdrom virtually speaking.. And will boot quite fine with no "?" icons.
