SheepShaver on PPC has MMU?

Post by Jose64141 »

The BeOS PPC version of SheepShaver doesn't use emulation as far as I know. (Tho reading the source code, I think it can be activated, or I understood that)
MacOS should have direct access to the CPU, right? Does that include MMU? Does that mean Mac OS 9.1 >= support?
Also, does this apply to the Linux version?
And can someone explain to me the PPC emulation on PPC system deal if possible, please?

Hi,

See here for some info on running SheepShaver inside BeOS. Note they speak of an old SheepShaver build limited to Mac OS 8.5 which did not require an mmu yet. And you would still need a rom that will be patched during SheepShaver start. Also note that the one-time developer excluded developing emulated mmu support as it would slow down the emulation considerably.

If you want/need mmu support, Qemu is the way to go.
