Al Evans, creator of Cap'n Magneto, passed away recently.

Richard Moss's twitter is a good place to find a few remembrances: https://twitter.com/MossRC

Evans was featured in several of Moss's books on video games. I'll post an obituary if I can find one.

For posterity (and more easily finding said remembrances), here's the specific Twitter thread I created: https://twitter.com/MossRC/status/1554662299222568960

Several people replied or quote-tweeted with their memories of Al and/or Cap'n Magneto, a couple of highlights being Glenda Adams reminiscing about Al from the BBS days and YouTuber Gruz getting excited that Al had kept a letter he'd sent in about Cap'n Magneto as a kid. I also included a few pictures of things he sent me when I interviewed him.

Thanks for sharing that, Richard.

Have you come across an obituary of Al? It would be nice to read more about his life outside of his work on this game.

I searched when I posted my Twitter thread and couldn't find anything, although it's possible that something has been published since then.

But his family posted this lovely mini-obituary on Facebook that talks a bit about his life. Beyond that, there's also some info (and photos!) in the Austin American-Statesman's 2021 article about Al and his beloved little game.
