I downloaded the Sheepshaver setup at https://mendelson.org/macos9win.html with a lot of the drivers, etc. already installed, and when I used ClarisWorks and printed, I was actually able to print it by going Control Print and then HP Smart kicked in and it printed. HP Smart is the HP Windows printer driver for current printers that is downloaded through Microsoft Store.

All the printing operation is done by the AutoIt script that laucnhes SheepShaver in my setup, and which then continues to run in the background (as you can see by its icon in the Windows system tray). SheepShaver by itself has no way of communicating with a Windows printer driver. My AutoIt script creates a PDF from PostScript print data sent to the Windows system by an AppleScript (written by me) in SheepShaver, and then my AutoIt script sends the PDF to your default Windows printer.

I'm glad to hear that my system is working correctly for you. But the printing is done by my script, not by SheepShaver.

Cat_7, first I want to thank you again for all your valuable work during more than 20 years. Unfortunately, the new SheepShaverGUI.exe in "SheepShaver for windows (31-01-2025)" seems still to be infected with a virus. It is flagged by Microsoft Defender Antivirus as containing Trojan:Win32/Bearfoos.A!ml. It’s likely a false virus alarm, but it is still serious since it deters new users from trying SheepShaver. If you are confident this is a false alarm, the quickest fix is that you as developer asks Microsoft to remove the warning by submitting the file:

This is a known FP, and I thought it was already fixed with the latest release? Is MS now FP-ing on the newest release as well? If that's the case, we may want to flag up to them that their generic detection is hitting the entire framework the GUI is using, and get them to create a fix to their detection logic instead of just suppressing detection on the individual submitted files.

MINGW32 will be discontinued in the future.
So I fixed BII/SS so that it can also be built on MINGW64.
However, the following functions cannot be used:
  • JIT compiler
  • Windows/cdenable
  • Windows/router
The build will automatically determine which environment you are using, so if you build on MINGW32, things will work as conventional.

Hello everyone. I'm very happy and upset at the same time... I just discovered a few days ago that Mac emulation is possible, and I thought about reliving those happy nights playing Ferazel on my new AMD Ryzen 7 5825U laptop. However, I discovered that Win11 isn't letting me access Sheepshaver at all. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? Any help is greatly appreciated. Greetings from Brazil.

You need to be more specific in what you did to configure SheepShaver and what happens when you start it.

SOLVED!!!
After much testing and observation, I discovered that the problem was the PORTUGUESE language.
To explain further, my laptop has multiple users because it's used by my family. Of the three user profiles, two of them had something very common in our native language: orthographic accents, something that English doesn't have (ã / é / ç). When I realized that I could only load the system on the only profile without this feature in Brazil, everything worked normally. So, I want to thank you very much for your willingness to help and for all your knowledge shared with everyone here. I wish you much success and health as you continue your active journey.

Hello, I’ve been browsing this forum and receiving a lot of help for quite a long time, but this is the first time I’ve made something myself.
This is a simple integrated tool for editing the preferences of SheepShaver and Basilisk II.
It works on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and if there is no build available for your platform, you can run the .py script instead.
Thank you.

This is really nice, congrats on the release!
Just tested it with my prefs file, the only parameter I use that your GUI doesn't display is "title" (I like to customize the window title, e.g. "Mac OS 9", "System 7").
Oh, and the icon's a nice touch 😄

This is really excellent. Thank you. Unfortunately, the release version crashes under macOS Sequoia. However, I was able to build from source under Sequoia, and the executable opens - but macOS won't let it launch the emulators. The app gives a "permission denied" message (ErrNo 13) when I try to launch BII or SS. I've tried adding it everywhere I can think of in Setttings (under Full Disk Access, App Management, Input Monitoring) and I've notarized it. I still can't make it launch the emulator. Can anyone suggest a setting that might help?

Fixed an issue where the emulator failed to launch on macOS.
Please pull the latest version and rebuild. Thanks!

I’ve just added the title editing feature and a PRAM reset button. Thank you.

Works perfectly now - thank you! You've done a superb job, and I know I'm asking a lot, but it would be very good to have explanations built-in, so (for example) we would know which keyboard type corresponds to which number, or which keyboard combination corresponded to which number. Perhaps, someday, the dropdown lists would give the "friendly" name for an option, so that a user could choose the ANSI keyboard type, and your app would write the corresponding number to the prefs file. Again, I know I am asking a lot after you've already done a lot!

I received some feedback and improved both the appearance and usability.
Aside from an issue where the tab border is not visible in Ubuntu light mode,
it appears to work well on Windows, macOS, and Ubuntu.

There is still room for further improvement, so I released it with a beta tag.
If you’re interested, please give it a try.

Looking good! One stretch request if you're taking those: the ability to save configurations, list them, and load them as the default one (so if you're switching between a bunch of custom configs, you can select one and open it for editing, and that one becomes the default).

I've added support for Korean, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese. Also, I’ve implemented a cool idea: multiple configuration files. You can now create various config files and boot up with your preferred setup! It's getting late here, so I haven't been able to build the binaries yet. Please clone the repository and run the build script

That's awesome! This is a feature set we've been looking for in a BII/SS launcher since the products first came out! Does this also switch PRAM/XPRAM files when the profile changes? That's an issue we've bumped up against in the past with launchers.

That choice needs to be made in the "Sound" control panel, not in the Monitors & Sound control panel). In a regular 8.5 installation, the "Sound" control panel is installed separately in the “Apple Extras” folder. You can use it there to select “Built-in” for the output device. Click “Built-in” to highlight it.

Hello,

First, thank you very much for the great tutorials on this site as well as the general answers in those forums.

I have successfully been able to create an image of up to 2Go in the GUI (I will using OS 9.0.4 which supports higher capacity disks) but anything over this results in an file of 0 byte that cannot be formatted once in SheepShaver (even though it is recognized).
Is this a voluntary limitation of the emulator in itself? If not, then is it a problem that has been reported in the past?
If creating bigger size images is possible, is there another way than with the GUI under Windows 11?

I'm sorry if that question was asked in the past, I tried to search on the forums as well as on the net before sending this message and I unfortunately cannot find an answer.
